As I’m sure many of you know, Michael LaFaver (AKA Lee Acim) released 13 trailers on AIO Audio News for episodes from the Rydell Saga from 2018-2020. However, what most of you probably don’t know is that in October 2019, he made a trailer that he never released. Here’s the brief version of the story behind it:
Back in 2019, I ran a small AIO fansite called “AIO Memes” (yes, I made a wiki page for my own thing—I knew better when I started Adventures in Opinions, and to this day there isn’t a wiki page for the blog). On October 30th, I released a Further from the Truth trailer, inspired by Michael’s trailers. When I first posted it, the audio embed was broken and Michael let me know how to fix it:
Well, it was edited in a pretty cringy way. If you want to give it as listen, here it is:
Anyways, a couple of people listened to it, including Michael. The next day he commented again, with a Dropbox link.
I was super excited to listen to it but I was leaving in about three minutes for a four-hour road trip. So, I quickly downloaded the file to my portable MP3 player. I remember naming the file something that would stand out so that I could easily find it on my MP3 player. I still have that file, so here’s what I named it: NEW TRAILER Rydell, Part 6 Trailer 3.mp3
I listened to it on repeat several times during that trip and probably 50+ times since I first heard it. It was my favourite Rydell trailer. It was word-for-word the same lines as mine, but with some better editing and dramatic music put behind it. As soon as I got back online, I replied.
I’ve always thought that it would be nice if everyone else could hear one of the best Rydell trailers that “Lee Acim” Michael LaFaver made, so I told him that he could release it on AIO Audio News in case he felt that he needed permission from me, because he used the same clips that I did. Unfortunately, he must have misunderstood me and released my original version of the trailer instead. Finally, in 2021 I contacted him about it and he removed my trailer from his site. Today I asked for his permission to release his version of the trailer, and he said to go for it.
Now: here’s what you’ve all been waiting for, Michael’s never-before-heard trailer!
